Ibar and Zapadna Morava
The rivers Ibar and Zapadna Morava with their tributaries are rich in various fish fund. There are all kinds of carp fish (bream, chub, and carp), barbell, crucian carp, pike, and catfish. You can catch them with deep fishing, float, fake or fly, and carp – with float and deep fishing.
For pike and carp fishing along the Zapadna Morava the most beautiful areas are down the village Obrva, where is the most famous old riverbed.
In addition to float and deep fishing, the Ibar is an ideal place for fishing with fake, since during the whole year, you can, using wobblers and butterflies, catch chub, barbell, and more and more often - pike. Catfish can be caught at the crossings between whirlpools and sandbanks, with wobblers and spoons. It should be mentioned that the river Gruža, from the village Vitkovac to its mouth, is rich in crucian carp and chub, that can be caught with deep fishing or using float.
Trout Fish
Tributaries that the Ibar receives in its gorge are rich in trout fish. In the Lopatnica and Studenica, there are trout, chub, gudgeon, and brook barbell; and in the Gvozdac and Dubočica, there is trout. They can be caught with deep fishing, fake and fly. Artificial fakes and fly fishing are successful in catching of gudgeon in the springs of the Stolovi Mountains, and also in catching of trout and brook barbell, that in live Goč’s rivers: Sokolja, Mekušnica, Gvozdačka River and in springs.
Lopatnica - Fly Fishing Area
In an attempt to spread and revive the trout part of fishing area and to take advantage of the capacities, the fly fishing area “Lopatnica” was opened. From the very beginning we tried to establish working regime like one the most famous European fishing areas have: limited number of fishermen in the area, each fisherman gets his part of the river, provided parking lot, condition records, etc. Tax for using of the area is 400 dinars and each fisherman has a right to catch three fish over allowed amount. Except the parking lot, there is arranged children garden with swings and seesaws. In coordination with eco-movement “Lopatnica”, there is an effort to provide the stay for guests in local household, and the great conditions for that already exist.
